Post Race Recap 7/30/16 East Carolina Motor Speedway

Heading into this weekend at East Carolina Motor Speedway, I was honestly a bit leery. The car had been rebuilt. It was a track I had never been on and only seen twice. Plus, I was racing with drivers I had never even met before; Some of these guys run very rough.

I was not going to let that mess with my head though! My team, MRR, & Terry Carroll Motorsports worked very hard all week long to get the car back together and I cannot thank them enough!ECMS 7:30

We went down Friday and tested most of the day to get a feel for the track and get the car right where we needed it to be. I received a ton of coaching from my teammate, Justin Carroll, on driving this track. That all went very well and we picked up speed all day long.

When we got to the track Saturday morning there was a short test session. Then we went into the real practices. I started to have major carburetor issues all day long and it got extremely worse during qualifying. We made a few changes and everything seemed to be running well again. During the first race, I fought a tight car the whole time wanting to kick sideways coming off the corners. I concluded that race with an 11th place finish. Once we had time, we again made adjustments to the car loosening it up and making some other minor changes. I went into the second race with higher hopes and the changes made definitely did the trick! Running a clean race, we finished with a 7th place finish. This is my first top ten of the season and I cannot thank everyone enough who has been involved and believed in me!
